Make your holidays in Greece unforgettable with our Mount Olympus 3 days Hike Tour, a private three-day hiking adventure across the spectacular landscapes of the Mountain of the Gods. Trek from Gortsia to Prionia, spend two nights in mountain refuges, explore the famous Plateau of the Muses, and attempt to reach Mytikas (2,918 m), the highest peak in Greece, when mountain and weather conditions allow.
This guided Mount Olympus hiking experience combines forest trails, dramatic alpine scenery, panoramic views of the Aegean Sea, and the unique atmosphere of staying overnight high in the mountains. On the second day, we hike towards the Plateau of the Muses and Giosos Apostolidis Refuge (2,700 m), with views of the striking rock formation known as the Throne of Zeus.
The tour is conducted on a private basis for groups of up to 5 participants, led by a Certified Mountain Leader. It is an excellent choice for active travellers planning hiking holidays in Greece and looking for a challenging, professionally guided mountain adventure. The Mytikas summit attempt depends on weather and mountain conditions and the leader's safety assessment. Reaching the summit is not guaranteed.
We meet at Gortsia (1,120 m), where the Certified Mountain Leader provides a safety briefing and checks the group's equipment before the hike begins.
Our route climbs through beautiful beech and black pine forests along scenic trails in Mount Olympus National Park. As we gain elevation, the forest scenery opens up to reveal impressive views of the surrounding mountain landscape.
We reach Petrostrouga Refuge (1,940 m), where we spend our first night. After settling in, we can rest, enjoy the mountain atmosphere, and prepare for the following day's ascent towards the Plateau of the Muses.
After breakfast, we continue our ascent towards Skourta Peak (2,476 m), enjoying impressive views across the Olympus massif and, when visibility allows, towards the Aegean Sea.
We cross the exposed Laimos Pass and continue towards the spectacular Plateau of the Muses, one of the most remarkable high-mountain landscapes in Greece.
Our destination is Giosos Apostolidis Refuge (2,700 m), where we spend our second night, subject to availability. From the plateau, we can admire the dramatic surroundings, including the rock formation known as the Throne of Zeus.
When conditions allow, we attempt the ascent of Mytikas (2,918 m), the highest summit in Greece. The ascent follows the Louki route and involves exposed, technical terrain. Appropriate climbing equipment, careful movement, and close supervision by the Certified Mountain Leader are essential.
After the summit attempt, we return along the same route to the Plateau of the Muses and Giosos Apostolidis Refuge. The summit attempt may be cancelled if weather, rock conditions, or the overall risk assessment make the ascent unsuitable.
Accommodation at Giosos Apostolidis Refuge is subject to availability. If it cannot be secured, Mountain Element will confirm the alternative overnight arrangement with participants before the tour. The alternative will depend on refuge availability and the safest feasible itinerary. Two nights of refuge accommodation are included in the tour price.
After breakfast, we begin our descent from the high alpine terrain, following the scenic Zonaria route. This section offers a different perspective on the dramatic rocky slopes and surrounding landscapes of Mount Olympus.
During the descent, we pass by Spilios Agapitos Refuge (Refuge A), a well-known mountain refuge on Mount Olympus. We then continue downhill to Prionia, where our three-day hiking adventure ends.
The route starts at Gortsia and finishes at Prionia, so these are two different locations. Transportation to and from the starting point and finish is not included.
This is a private guided hiking experience for groups of up to five participants. The price depends on the total number of people in your group and includes two nights' accommodation at mountain refuges.
All prices apply to the entire private group and are not charged per person.
Proper clothing and equipment are essential for a safe and enjoyable three-day hiking adventure on Mount Olympus. Please review the following checklist carefully and contact Mountain Element if you do not have any of the required items, so we can discuss suitable solutions.
Food, snacks, and water may be available to purchase at the mountain refuge upon arrival, subject to availability. We recommend carrying enough water and snacks for each day's hike rather than relying on supplies at the refuge.
Please read the entire equipment checklist carefully and let us know in advance if you are missing any items. Mountain Element will be happy to discuss suitable options before your hiking tour.
The ascent to Mytikas Summit takes place only when weather conditions, mountain conditions, and the risk assessment made by the Certified Mountain Leader allow it.
Mount Olympus is a high-mountain environment, and the final approach to Mytikas involves exposed terrain. The summit attempt may be cancelled if conditions are unsuitable or if the mountain leader determines that continuing would compromise the group's safety.
The Certified Mountain Leader may modify the route, itinerary, or destination whenever necessary. This decision is final for the activity and is made with the safety and well-being of all participants as the priority. Reaching Mytikas is not guaranteed.
