DAY 1 — Ascent & Summits

We meet at Larissa Train Station and begin our drive toward Mount Olympus. The total drive is approximately 2 hours, including 30 minutes on paved road and the remaining time on off-road terrain, until we reach the Christakis Emergency Refuge at 2,550 m altitude.

From this point, our hike officially begins.

  1. Summit Skala – 2,867 m
We ascend first to Skala, enjoying open views and high-altitude alpine terrain.
  2. Traverse to Skolio – 2,912 m
From Skala, we continue to Skolio, the second-highest accessible peak of Olympus, where panoramic views of the entire mountain range unfold.
  3. Descent to the Plateau of the Muses
After completing the summits of the day, we descend toward the historic Plateau of the Muses, an extraordinary alpine field located beneath the iconic “Zeus Throne” rock formation.

Overnight: Refuge Yosos Apostolidis (2,700 m)

We arrive at Refuge Yosos Apostolidis, where we rest for the night, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the next day’s ascent.

DAY 2 — Ascent to Mytikas (Highest Summit of Greece)

We wake early and enjoy breakfast at the refuge. After preparing our backpacks and equipment, we begin our approach to the summit.

Ascent to Mytikas – 2,917 m

This is the highest peak of Greece, reached by the classic scrambling route. With guidance from our certified mountain leader, the ascent is done safely and steadily.

After enjoying time at the summit for photos and rest, we begin our descent, following the mountain path back toward the starting point.

Return to Larissa

Once back at the vehicles, we drive to Larissa, where the tour concludes at the original meeting point.

End of trip.
